Herbal Infused Oils

for Healing, Body, Bath and Massage __________________________________________

Infused Oils are crafted by steeping (macerating) the whole herb in a base oil. We steep fresh herb in an olive oil base for 6 weeks. The herb is harvested at the peak of it's potency and cold steeped in the oil for 6 weeks. Since heat promotes rancidity, we find that this method retains the quality of the oil longer and thus the healing power of the plants.

We also use olive oil because it holds it's integrity longer than commonly used seed oils and is wonderful for the skin. This method allows oil soluble vitamins and minerals to be released into the oil and offer their healing qualities. They are offered in glass amber bottles in order to diffuse light. In addition using glass rather than plastic means that harmful substances that are release when oil breaks down plastic are not a problem.

Each product that we craft is one that we originally made to use in our own lives, so we make every effort to create wares that will last and promote health. Infused oils can be applied directly to the skin and do not need to be diluted. They can also be transformed into salves as well as creams and make excellent oils for massage.

If you do not see the herb you are looking for please inquire as we have many more herbs than are listed. Also keep checking back as we will continue to add herbs to our list!!

Lavender (Lavendula sp) Organically grown on one of our favorite farms in the Northwest. This sweet smelling oil, is one of my favorite allies. It calms me when I apply to my feet, my temples and/or the back of my neck. It is a great bath and body oil and is the one I take with me when I get a massage. This oil is healing to burns and is softening to the skin. It retains all of the oil soluble nutrients, so is a wonderful addition to creams, lotions and salves. A simple way to apply it as a moisturizer is to take a wet wash cloth and put a little bit of oil on it; apply to the face, baby's skin or any other place that needs softening. It also combines well with other infused oils.

St. Johnswort  (Hypericum perforatum) Wild harvested throughout central Wisconsin. This oil is a must for the first aid kit. It is healing to  sore muscles, first degree burns, bruises, skin irritation and inflammation. St Johnswort is used to treat wounds, has antispasmodic properties, is healing to the nervous system and has antiviral activity. I often put this oil on my feet when I go to bed at night, this allows it to easily access the nervous system and provide me with a restful night sleep. While this herb is popular today for it's internal application it has a long history of being applied topically and is commonly used by herbalist for the above mentioned complaints.
