Wisdom Intensive

May 30th-June 2nd 2008

This segment of the program was created to meet the needs of some of my apprentice students when I moved from Washington State to Wisconsin. It has many of the aspects of the wise woman herbal apprenticeship in an intensive residential format and has continued to support the needs of new and past students alike. This program offers a unique opportunity to connect deeply with green allies. While hiking Lopez Island we will identify and harvest a wide variety of nutritive as well as healing plants. Participants will learn beginning botany as well as the healing characteristics of plant families. We will uncover plant mysteries and use our senses to connect deeply with the natural world. The plants we collect will be incorporated into our daily meals and we will have the opportunity to craft a wide variety of tonics and medicines for later use. We will visit local farms as a way to connect with the agricultural focus of this community as well as enhance our wild harvested meals. *These are  intensive programs, we cover a lot of material in a short time. While you will have some time to reflect, keep in mind that the intention  and point of an intensive is to focus and learn a lot in short amount of time. While participation in activities is optional many participants are able to pace themselves and participate in the majority of offerings. Know that as one participant put it: "the ripple effects" have the potential to reverberate for a long time to come!!

*For those who choose to kayak during the seaweed trip, you are doing so at your own risk. While the trip we take is short and appropriate for all levels, it is always a risk and you are solely responsible for this. You will sign a waiver at the Kayak Company to this effect. You also have the choice not to Kayak and will get plenty out of the program without this experience.

*Some work trade as well as financial assistance are available. To inquire contact Linda by phone 920-452-HERB
