About the event
Join this workhop, held at the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival. Tenerife (or Teneriffe) lace is a style of Needle Lace that evolved from earlier styles of cutwork lace that generated medallions and rounded motifs in fabric by cutting and stitching groups of threads in existing fabric pieces. Because of the nature of the frequently rounded structure with angular radiations, it was reminiscent of the sun and also acquired the name "sol lace.” In this workshop, we’ll be creating Tenerife weavings on metal forms that will become a framework for coiling a sweet grass or pine needle ornament and/or small basket. Everyone will leave with additional materials to continue weaving and coiling at home. Materials fee of $20 covers forms, weaving materials (sweetgrass/pine needles), thread, and needles. Class Fee: $110 / Materials Fee: $20. Register: https://wisconsinsheepandwoolfestival.com/classes/wonders-of-wool
